Bloody Islands is a series of linked stories, each of a bloody island of sorts, concerning the 19th Century settlement of California and the Bloody Island Massacre of 1850. They tell of those who tasted success only to have it wrested away, of those who fought for and/or sought justice and lost, of the crushing of cultures, of racism, and of those whose lives and/or lands or fortunes were vanquished. These are the stories of Yankee Jim Robinson, William Knight, Lewis Dent, Benjamin and Andrew Kelsey, Charles Stone, John Stark, Captain John Freemont, Kit Carson, James Beckwourth, Salvador Vallejo, Jose de la Reyes Berryessa, Chief Solano, Chief Ba•cow•shun, William Morris Stewart, Lieutenant John Davidson, Captain Nathaniel Lyon, and others. They document events such as the Bear Flag Revolt, the second relief effort of Donner Party, the Battle of San Pasqual, the case of the People versus Hall, the murder of the Reed family at Mission San Miguel, and the Bloody Island Massacre of 1850, to which they all relate.
Bloody Islands edition by Robin Circadian Ronald Lane Literature Fiction eBooks
Centered around Clear Lake, with stories ranging into the Sierra Nevada gold fields, Donner Party rescue and Sacramento Valley to San Francisco and San Diego. Many historic events from 1835 to 1852 told through the eyes of some Clear Lake native Indians, Sierra miners, valley ranchers, scouts like Kit Carson and many other interesting fictional and historic characters. Well researched and although it says it is a collection of stories, they are woven together so you hardly notice any separation between them because the characters weave between and through them. At the end is a section "Explanations" with specific information about each chapter (true or partially true, background information, etc.). Don't forget to read this before or after each chapter to put it in perspective with history.Product details

See (http//www.willitsnews.com/general-news/20131025/fiction-history-collide-in-bloody-island-book) for and interview with the author.
This well-research fictionalized account of murderous events in California's not-so-distant past makes for intriguing and informative reading. If you love history and well-rounded character development, you'll enjoy this book.
Very well researched historical novel. A gifted writer-though a few misspellings and other inexplicable mistakes-but overall expertly crafted. Those poor Indians...also very depressing-you read with the knowledge of what you know is inevitable. I live in Lake County and I would say this is easily the most important book about Lake County history ever written. Should be required reading for every high school student in Northern California.
